Excited to share the latest addition to my #etsy shop: Scrunchie http://etsy.me/2EuLZUO
My daughter, who is in the 4th grade, has career day tomorrow. Yay! I love career day! I’m glad the schools are getting the kids interested in what they want to be when they grow up, because lets face it… I don’t even know what I want to be when I grow up yet…
Last week Victoria come over to me and says, “Mom, I need an apron for school. I’m going to be a baker!”, just like her grandma. Wow, did that make me happy! Deep down I wished I had become a baker too. “No problem kid! I got this!” I told her, and this is what happened… I made her a pretty decent apron. With cupcakes! Lots of cupcakes! And her favorite color “green”.
Super easy pattern that I bought at a fabric store and adjusted it a little tiny bit for fun.
So what do you think?
All right folks! Only 9 weeks left of school. Summer is right around the corner. Who’s ready?
That just means the kids will be home ALL the time. How am I supposed to keep them busy, take care of the house, and run a business all at the same time?
Let’s see if we can help each other out and start sharing ideas of what to do with the kiddos this summer.
What do you normally do to keep the kids busy? Comment below.
Love the color combination on this one. Currently this is a “spare” baby blanket that is waiting for more babies to be born.
This was a fun project for me since I was able to get my hands on some of the new Premier Sweet Roll yarn and it was just perfect for this piece. It is super soft and the colors work really well together. Works for both boy or girl. The weight of the yarn is great too.
My final thought on this yarn is… Well, I’m obsessed with it. Just lovely! Can’t wait to try more color combinations.
Yarn used: Premier Sweet Roll – 5 rolls (1 for each square, 1 for the boarder)

Ah… finally able to post this beauty. As usual life is crazy but I was finally able to finish this gorgeous blanket for a friend who just had a baby. This one was a little rough. You see, I am a die-hard Chicago Bears fan so making a Green Bay Packers colored blanket was torture. Ha Ha Ha OK, it really wasn’t that hard.
C2C is the stitch I used again for this one. This stitch is so easy and makes the blanket look extra cozy. Caron One Pound is the yarn I used.

So here it is folks. My attempt at knitting worked. I’m so happy I actually finished this one. In the past I have never been able to finish a knitting project.
My forte is crochet so this is a big win for me. Granted I did miss a few stitches but I’m fine with that. There is still a lot to be learned when it comes to knitting but I think this is a good start.
For this project I used Lily Sugar & Cream yarn and #7 knitting needles.
Leave me a message and let me know what you think.
After 25 years of crocheting, I decided to give knitting a try again. Several previous attempts at knitting have failed miserably but I think I’m getting the hang of it… Sort of. So far this is what I have done and yes I have missed a few stitches already. At lease it looks semi decent for a dishcloth.
Hope everyone had a great holiday! I know we did. Lots of great food and time well spent with family and friends. This was much needed in our house. Now comes the time of year when the winter blues start to set in. For me, a trip to the local craft shop is what helps me get through the winter months. All the pretty colors make me happy!
So, I have a confession to make… I love yarn! Like, I’m obsessed! All yarn. All colors and styles. When I walk into a craft store, I have a nasty habit of buying too much yarn. Not that I won’t use it eventually, but I don’t usually have a particular project in mind at the time of purchase. Good example, Joann Fabrics had a stock up sale on yarn last week and you better believe I did just that. Below is a project I just finished and I absolutely love how it came out. Check it out.
Yarn used is Caron One Pound. Stitch is C2C (corner to corner) and a really quick simple border that I just made up. Message me if you want more details.
We started off early with getting the kids ready at 6AM.
Followed by running around all day looking for a new water heater since the old one crapped out two days ago.
Then headed to Best Buy to purchase a new router and modem after 3 days of no internet. Who knew we could survive that long!
Grocery shopping was uneventful except that I decided to do it while everyone else in my town decided to go grocery shopping too.
Fixed dinner for the family. Thank goodness it was taco night. Nice and easy. See below for a recipe for rice.
Got some knowledge in for myself by going through a HTML/CSS lesson. I’m excited that I had time to do this today. I have been talking about it for some time and I am finally getting around to it.
By this time, I’m completely exhausted after all of that. Not to mention I’m still not at a hundred percent from going to the snowy Bears game yesterday.
We finally end our day at about 10:30PM by sitting down to decompress and watch a few episodes of Last Man Standing on Netflix and I get such a cool gift from the universe…
While sitting in the family room working online and watching some TV, I get the coolest ending to my chaotic day… There is an owl sitting on my chimney and we can hear it hooting. Loud and clear! This literally made my day. I LOVE OWLS! After questioning all the crazy annoying things happening throughout the day, this was cool. We even woke up the kids to listen to it. They were excited about it too. It felt like we were about to get a message from Hogwarts. Of course, I sneaked outside to catch a glimpse of it and as we stepped outside it flew over to the neighbor’s house. What a beautiful animal! It was a good 2ft tall and the wing span was massive.
This experience put today’s events into perspective for me. No matter how tired and discouraged I get, there is always a prize at the end. Whether it’s experiencing the beautiful sounds of nature or getting kisses from your kids before bed or quiet time to get your thoughts together. Life is beautiful. Don’t let the little things blind you from seeing the beauty of what is around you. Just open your heart and let the universe do the rest.
Here is a quick recipe for you… my family really likes it.
Start by adding olive oil, salt, onion powder, garlic powder, and rice. Stir. Add water and heat till water starts to boil. Once boiling, turn heat down to low and cover. Cook approximately 20 mins or until tender and the water is absorbed. Serves about 6.
